custom fields

Hi,
I need to know how I can work around in changing/adding/deleting some of the fields or even their entries.
I want to give my users the ease of a drop down menu for cities and there are fields that could confuse them.
The listing I am working on is not only for homes but all types of properties like buildings, farms, apartments, and the likes. the farm for example does not have a room so I would need the form to contain fields like NA should the entry not qualify to the property.
Basically, i need a guide on where and how to edit the module and add some stuffs my website need.
btw, thanks for working on this project, helps a lot of us who wants to make their own property listing.
